Cranberry crash sends 2 to hospital
CRANBERRY TWP — Two people were flown by medical helicopter to Pittsburgh hospitals Thursday afternoon following a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Freedom Road, Commonwealth Drive and McIntyre Lane that had the major intersection closed for two hours.
Sgt. Dave Kovach of the township police said a white Lexus driven by Patricia Drushel, 58, of Cranberry Township, was turning south from McIntyre Drive onto Freedom Road, when it collided with a Ford pickup truck driven by Robert Jemente, 69, of New Sewickley Township, Beaver County, that was traveling west on Freedom Road.
The impact pushed Drushel's vehicle into the path of an east bound Ford pickup truck driven by Michael Bazzy, no age available, of Cranberry. Bazzy was not injured.
Jemente was flown by STAT MedEvac helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital where he was listed in serious condition Friday.
Drushel was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital where she was listed in fair condition Friday.
