Artist Fumino Hora, a native of Tokyo, will introduce her works of art and their historical and cultural background in a presentation "Kimono Unfolded — Japanese Culture Reflected in Hina Dolls" at 7 p.m. April 23 at the Maridon Museum, 322 N. McKean St.

The history of Hina dolls goes back to the 17th century, when Japanese parents bought the set of dolls upon the birth of a daughter. After marriage, the girl was allowed to take the dolls to her husband's house. The elegant dollhouse represented the parents' ideal of their daughter's happiness.

JACKSON TWP — The Harmony-Zelienople Community Band will celebrate its 10th season with a concert at 2 p.m. April 6 at Seneca Valley Intermediate High School on Seneca School Road.Under the direction of Susan Van Arsdale, the program will include music from the movies, the swing band era, Irish dancers and a performance by the Slippery Rock University Steel Drum Band.The community band's goal is to encourage people who once played an instrument to start playing again. The group has 95 members, who work as doctors, nurses, engineers, bankers, teachers, architects, stay-at-home moms and college students. Children of any band member who play an instrument also can participate.Admission to the concert is free.

PITTSBURGH — The Carnegie Museum of Natural History will host an Egg-cellent Scavenger Hunt from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 22.Participants can look for leg bones, tail bones, teeth, and finally the egg of a dinosaur. This is just one of five clues families will be given at the second annual indoor event at the museum, 4400 Forbes Ave.The activity is free with paid museum admission, and is limited to the first 1,000 children.Regular admission is $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens, $11 for children ages 3 to 18 and full¿time students with ID, and free to children younger than 3 and Carnegie Museums members.Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays, noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.For more information, call 412-622-3131 or visit the Web site, www.carnegiemnh.org.

PITTSBURGH — "The Wedding Singer," the musical, comes to the Benedum Center, 719 Liberty Ave., for shows April 8 to 13.Based upon the 1998 movie that starred Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, "The Wedding Singer" is part of the PNC Broadway Across America — Pittsburgh series.Performances are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. April 8, 9 and 10, at 8 p.m. April 11, at 2 and 8 p.m. April 12; and 1 and 6:30 p.m. April 13.Tickets range from $20.50 to $62 and are available by calling 412-456-6666 or by visiting the Web site, www.pgharts.org.

ZELIENOPLE — Calvin Presbyterian Church, 415 E. Grandview Ave., will stage "Always...Patsy Cline" at 7:30 p.m. April 4, 5, 10, 11 and 12 and at 2 p.m. April 6.The Calvin production features Toni Schlemmer as Patsy and Karen Cramer as Louise. The show focuses on the two women, one a rising star and the other a devoted fan, who met by chance at a Houston honky-tonk in 1961.They will be joined by Bruce Smith, leading the Bodacious Bobcat Band. Adding to the fun will be Scott Brown, Sam Cummins, David Shidemantle, and Tom Surgalski singing backup as the "The Calvinaires." Special guests include "The Maybelles," namely Marsha Demeter, Sharon Taylor-Shanks, Beth Wilson and Patti Godsen opening the show.Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students.
