PITTSBURGH — Some Jeannette High School basketball players face possible disciplinary action before the team's PIAA Class AA basketball semifinal game Wednesday as the result of a postgame melee Saturday.

Terrelle Pryor, a multi-sport all-stater who is considered the nation's best unsigned high school football player, is Jeannette's top player.

The WPIAL, which doubles as PIAA District 7, plans a disciplinary hearing Tuesday to determine what, if any action, should be taken. Some Jayhawks players became involved in a fight with opposing Pittsburgh North Catholic players following Jeannette's 86-60 PIAA quarterfinal win Saturday at Hempfield High School.

Jeannette plays North East, with the winner of Wednesday's game advancing to Saturday's PIAA championship game in State College. Jeannette won the PIAA Class AA football championship in December.

North Catholic coach Dave Long said that some Jeannette players came at his team in a hallway near the North Catholic locker room shortly after the game. He said talking among the players during the game and in the postgame handshake line might have played a part in the altercation.

The 6-foot-6 Pryor had 21 points, six rebounds, six assists and three blocked shots during Jeannette's victory. Pryor is now 11th in District 7 career scoring with 2,245 points.

Pryor, a star quarterback, announced on NCAA letter of intent day Feb. 6 that he would not sign with one of his football finalists — Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State or Oregon — until after his basketball season ended. He is the only Pennsylvania high school player to rush for at least 4,000 yards and pass for 4,000 during his career.

Ohio State is considered the favorite to land Pryor.
