MONROEVILLE — The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center bought a closed hotel for nearly $19 million and plans to turn it into a health center.
UPMC, which announced the purchase of the former Palace Inn on Wednesday, said the building on the 12-acre site will be completely renovated. The Monroeville facility will include outpatient clinics, diagnostic imaging services, an ambulatory surgery center, an urgent care center and doctors' offices.
PITTSBURGH — The Bank of New York Mellon will add at least 60 new management positions to its Pittsburgh operation.The company announced the jobs would be in the areas of information security and general wealth management.The bank vowed to created up to 2,000 new jobs after a merger last year led Mellon Financial to move its headquarters to New York.By the end of last year, Mellon employed about 6,400 people in the Pittsburgh area, up from just under 6,100.
