Metcalfe action despicable
I am writing to express my extreme displeasure with the actions of state Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, R-12th, who is being challenged in the primary by another Republican candidate.
To have one's name listed on the ballot in Pennsylvania, a candidate must obtain and submit signatures on a petition. It has come to my attention that Metcalfe spent two days in the Butler County courthouse going over the petitions of his opponent and building a list of qualified registered Republicans who he intends to disqualify.
This is despicable. This is not about ensuring "dead" citizens don't vote; it is about eliminating competition, stifling debate and corrupting the will of the citizens he was elected to represent.
Two full days were spent serving his own interests as opposed to ours. Two full days were spent trying to find a way to avoid debate. Two full days were spent attempting to stifle an opponent's ideas.
Republicans got creamed in 2006 because they forgot the core issues of the party and became self-absorbed with keeping power. It is clear Metcalfe follows the same game plan.
He signs his communications with the words "For Liberty." It is quite obvious that the substance of the man is far different from the image he chooses to portray.
On April 22, I will use my vote to send a message that cowards and power-hungry politicians have no place in our government.
