Ellen J. Kline

Ellen J. Kline, 85, of the Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople, formerly of Evans City, died Monday at the retirement community.

Born in Pittsburgh, July 13, 1922, she was the daughter of Roscoe and Grace Irvine Kline.

A 1941 graduate of Evans City High School, she was a 1945 alumna of the College of Wooster and received a master's degree in education from Penn State University.

Miss Kline began teaching in 1945 and taught in the Evans City, Shaler and the Butler School districts before retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and Phi Beta Kappa, Delta Kappa Gamma and honorary educational societies.

She was a member of the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, Evans City. She also belonged to the Evans City Business and Professional Women, the Butler and Evans City Historical societies, the Evans City Library and the Evans City Food Cupboard. She had served on the EDCO Park Board.

Surviving are a niece, Mrs. Douglas (Nancy) Leonberg of Cranberry Township; a niece-in-law, Barb Rahiser of Butler; great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret K. Rahiser, and a nephew, Wilbert C. Rahiser Jr.

<B>KLINE </B>— Friends of Ellen J. Kline, who died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Kinsey-Volz Funeral Home</B>, Evans City. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Park officiating.
