Sarah F. 'Sal' Deal
Sarah F. "Sal" Deal, 90, of Washington Street in Fairview died of natural causes at 5:20 p.m. Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Fairview Township, Dec. 27, 1917, she was a daughter of Harry and Gertrude Karnes Bartoe.
She was a former member of St. Peter's Reformed Church and the American Legion Post 218 Ladies Auxiliary, both of Fairview.
Mrs. Deal attended Fairview Elementary School and Fairview Township Karns City High School.
She was a homemaker and avid fireman's bingo player.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia L. Hutchison and her husband, Donald E., of Lake Worth, Fla.; four sons, Terry E. Deal and his wife, Ruby, and Richard "Chub" Deal, all of Fairview, Danny "Tiny" Deal and his wife, Theresa, of Portersville and Steve R. Deal of Fairview; a daughter-in-law, Ethel Jean Deal of Fairview; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Linda Rupert of Rochester; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She married Clarence Eugene "Pappy" Deal on June 15, 1936, in May Port, N.Y. He died Sept. 27, 2004. She also was preceded in death by a son, Dennis L. "Shorty" Deal on July 6, 2002; a grandson, Donald A. "Donnie" Deal on Sept. 4, 1987; two great-grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Deal on Nov. 7, 2001, and Tyler A. Vanderwall on Feb. 4, 2007; three brothers, Thomas, Dale and Roy Bartoe; and three sisters, Mrs. Helen King, Mrs. Eleanor McFadden and Mrs. Jean Travaglio.
<B>DEAL </B>— Friends of Sarah F. "Sal" Deal, who died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at <B>Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home</B>, 102 Argyle St., Petrolia. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Dennis Barger, a family friend from Grove City, officiating.
