EDINBORO — The Grove City High basketball team is very familiar withGeneral McLane.

The Eagles also are very familiar with this outcome.

Grove City had a chance to topple the defending Class AAA state champions in regulation, but a tough shot by the Eagles' Kyle Perrine missed its mark at the buzzer.

That gave the Lancers an opportunity to seize control in overtime on the way to a 63-57 win in the District 10 semifinals at Edinboro University Monday night.

"It's tough," said Grove City coachDonFee. "We had a great effort and I thought we deserved to win. It's disappointing. We executed the game plan very well. We made it to the foul line and we made them when we got there."

GeneralMcLane (23-3) beat Grove City (16-10) in the district and the state playoffs last season.

The biggest lead either team held at the end of any quarter was two points. In overtime, the Lancers were sent to the line and made their free throws.

Shawn Walker led the Lancers with 23 points and nine rebounds. Grove City did well containing the 6-foot-4 senior in the first half, limiting him to seven points.

ButWalker contributed down the stretch.

"He made some big plays for them," Fee said. "We just came one big play short."

Patrick Johnson scored 17 points to lead Grove City. Maxx Stutz added 15 points andRyan McNamara 14.

"Patrick Johnson played a great game," Fee said. "Ryan McNamara made some big shots — everyone played well. We got a great effort from everyone."

Grove City is not done. The Eagles will face Meadville, which lost toFranklin 52-47 in the other semifinal game, in a consolation matchup Thursday night at SlipperyRock University. The time is still to be determined.

The winner moves on to the state tournament. The loser goes home.

"We're disappointed, but it's encouraging," Fee said.
