John E. Lambert Sr., 80, of 211 Wallula Ave., formerly of Greenville, died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Greenville, Dec. 8, 1927, he was a son of Eddie G. and Wilma Hollen Lambert.

He attended Penn High School in Greenville and retired in 1985 from the car shop of the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad after 36 years.

Mr. Lambert attended the United Brethren in Christ Church in Greenville.

He enjoyed woodworking.

He served with the Army 1st Calvary Division in Japan from January 1946 to November 1948.

He married A. Virginia Rodawalt Aug. 18. 1949. She survives along with two daughters, Susan Gregory and her husband, James, and Karen Lee Hillwig and her husband, Walter, all of Butler; a son John E. Lambert Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Orlando, Fla.; three brothers, Raymond Lambert of North Ridge, Calif., James Lambert of Greenville and Robert Lambert of West Hills, Calif.; and three sisters, Bonnie Packard of Greenville, Mary D. Osborn of Corona, Calif., and Ellen Mae Lambert of Greenville.

He also is survived by five grandchildren, Jennifer L. and Matthew C. Solla and Jessica E., Nicole and Rachel B. Lambert; and three great-grandchildren, Natalie L. Solla, Jayden Levell and Miyah Cole.

Main St., Greenville. A memorial service will held at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, followed by military honors accorded by the Greenville VFW Post 3374.
