Finney

John C. Finney, 87, of Saxonburg, formerly of New Kensington, died Friday.

Born Aug. 28, 1920, in New Kensington, to Reid T. and Laura Ella Bickerstaff Finney, he was a 1938 graduate of New Kensington High School and lived in New Kensington most of his life.

An Army veteran of World War II, he attained the rank of sergeant and served with the military police.

A custodian, he was employed by the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Kensington for 17 years, retiring in 1982. Prior to that, he worked in the New Kensington School District and at Pittsburgh Plate Glass in Creighton.He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, the American Legion and was a 60-year member of Tyrian Lodge 644 Free and Accepted Masons, all of New Kensington. He also was a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of Pittsburgh and the Washington Township Senior Citizens.He is survived by a son, David R. (Pamela L. Klein) Finney of Saxonburg.He is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred E. Fryer Finney, who died April 14, 2006; sisters, Elizabeth Remaley, Evangeline McCormick and Margaret Meanor; and a brother Reid E. Finney.

<B>FINNEY</B> — Visitation for John C. Finney, who died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the <B>ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD</B>., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where a service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday. His pastor, the Rev. Alfred S. Petrill, will officiate.
