Romaine D. Powell
Romaine D. Powell, 98, of Butler died at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 9, 1909, in New Bethlehem, Clarion County, the daughter of Alfred and Hortense Bowers Perry.
She was a member of the North Main Street Church of God.
Mrs. Powell was a graduate of Duffs Iron City Business College and had worked at the New Bethlehem Bank until her marriage.
With her husband, she moved to Butler in 1948, and he was the senior pastor of North Main Street Church of God for 36 years. She was actively involved in her husband's ministry, served as secretary of the Radio Revival Hour Inc. and actively participated as the pastor's wife.
Surviving are two children and their spouses, Marcia J. and Michael Kirby of St. Michaels, Md., and the Rev. Gordon K. and Janis Powell of Butler; two grandchildren and their spouses, Scott and Christine Powell of Grove City and Christie and Les Decker of Lithia, Fla.; three step-grandchildren, Todd and his wife, Amy, Minnear and Jason and Lindsay Minnear; and five great-grandchildren.
Her husband, the Rev. N.K. Powell, who she married March 14, 1934, died Jan. 5, 1998.
