Francis A. "Frank" Maksin Sr., 87, of Cranberry Township, formerly of McKees Rocks, died Saturday at the St. John Specialty Care Center, Mars.

Born Dec. 23, 1920, in McKees Rocks, he was the son of Adam and Anna Macejovsky Maksin.

He served in the Army 82nd Airborne during World War II and received four Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart.

Mr. Maksin was a member of St. Ferdinand Roman Catholic Church, Cranberry Township. He was a life member of the McKees Rocks VFW.

He retired as a steelworker at LTV Steel.

He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth "Becky" Schran and her husband, Robert, of Adams Township and Phyllis Wirth and her husband, Jack, of Butler; a son, Frank A. "Butch" Maksin Jr. and his wife, Georgia, of Glenshaw; a sister, Margaret Roberts of Heidelberg; five grandsons, and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Buiyak Maksin, who died Dec. 24, 1996; seven sisters, and two brothers.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ferdinand Roman Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township.
