Edward Stewart - OBIT - 01/07/08

Edward E. Stewart, 80, of Hilliards died at 9:25 a.m. Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Born Sept. 18, 1927, in Hilliards, he was the son of Paul D. and Alice Amelia Gates Stewart.

He was a member of the Ridgeville Methodist Church.

Mr. Stewart was an Army veteran, served during the Korean War and received a Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion Post 243 in West Sunbury.

He had worked for 32 years at US Steel. He also was a roadmaster for Venango Township and operated Stewart Excavating.

He is survived by his wife, Janet I. Logue Stewart, who he married June 30, 1953; a daughter, Janie Stowe of Sarver; a son, Eddie Stewart of Hilliards; two granddaughters, Stacey Stewart of State College and Trista Staab of Harrisville, and a great-granddaughter, Emily Staab of Harrisville.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

<B>STEWART </B>— Friends of Edward E. Stewart, who died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wade Berkley, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be at the Rosewood Cemetery.Graveside military honors will be provided by the Moniteau Ceremonial Squad.
