Clarion knocks down Rock
With a chance to roll into the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference playoff race, The Rock slid back.
The Slippery Rock University men's basketball team got 16 points from Darnell Johnson and 15 fromErrol Robinson, but it couldn't keep pace with Clarion University in a 76-63 loss Wednesday night.
The game was a battle for fourth place in the PSAC West. The top four teams make the postseason.
Clarion (11-9, 3-3) had five players score in double digits, led by Lonell Jones, who scored 14 points.
Cory Summerville added 10 points and nine rebounds for The Rock (4-16, 2-4).
Women's Basketball
A first-half hole was too much for SlipperyRock University to escape.
The Rock fell behind host Clarion University 38-19 in the first half on the way to a 65-48 loss Wednesday night.
SRU shot just 25 percent from the floor in the first half.
KellyAnn Staudinger led The Rock (7-14, 1-5) with 13 points. Haley Gaidosh added 12.
Butler County Community College 39, Pitt-Titusville 31 — Former Slippery Rock High player Lea Roth scored 13 points and Slippery Rock grad Jessica Fry added 11 to lead the Pioneers to a WPCC playoff win.BC3 (10-7) will travel to play Potomac (W.Va.)
