William M. Swigart

Swigart

William M. "Bill" Swigart, 73, of Karns City died at 2:15 p.m. Monday at his home after an illness.

Born in Worthington, he was the son of Abraham M. and Sarah E. Flick Swigart.

He had worked at Pullman Standard until the plant closed and then worked at Brookville Wood Products until he retired in 1996.

Mr. Swigart was a member of St. Paul's Community Church of Chicora. He was a member of Petrolia Volunteer Fire Company, Kaylor Grange, Armstrong County Pomona Grange and Pennsylvania State and National granges.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret J. Shakley Swigart, whom he married Oct. 2, 1964; Emile Vlassich of Karns City, whom he raised; two sisters, Emma G. Protzman and Mrs. Carl (Sandra) Hilderbrand, both of Butler; and a brother, Donald Swigart of Mesa, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Robert Swigart; his stepmother, Ethel Beilstein Swigart; and a sister-in-law, Marcella "Sally" Swigart.

<B>SWIGART</B> — Friends of William M. "Bill" Swigart, who died Monday, Jan. 27, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at <B>Steighner Funeral Home</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Community Church, Chicora, with the Rev. Randall Forester officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Chicora R.D.2.The Kaylor Grange will hold a memorial service at 6:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral hom.e
