Krause

Gustave C. "Gus" Krause, 84, of Butler died Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

Born Nov. 17, 1923, in Chicago, he was the son of Gustave P. and Inez M. Krause.

He served with the Army in the Philippines during World War II and was involved in liberating prisoners in Santo Tomas. He also served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of VFW Post 249 for several years.

Mr. Krause retired from Laborers' International Union Local 323 in 1985.

He attended Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church for 46 years and currently belonged to St. Christopher at the Lake Roman Catholic Church in Prospect.

He is survived by his wife, of 54 years, Maxine "Keen" Spahr Krause; six children, Jerry (Monica), Glenn (Roxanne Baker), Wayne (Brenda), Darlene Krause, Jeff (Patty) and Glenna Hawn (Bruce); 12 grandchildren, Megan, Albert, Craig, Justin, Jason, Daniel, Marissa, Nathan, Anthony, Nicolette, Ethan and Kevin; and a great-granddaughter, Guilianna.

Also surviving are a sister, Shirley Sullivan of Romeoville, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

<B>KRAUSE</B> — Friends of Gustave C. "Gus" Krause, who died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Thursday at <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Christopher at the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Prospect.
