Shirley A. Custer

Shirley A. Custer, 82, of Hubbard, Ohio, died Saturday morning at the Hospice House from complications of a stroke.

Born July 15, 1925, in Butler, she was a daughter of Clair and Frieda Polliard Dickey. She moved to Hubbard in 1950.

She was a 1943 graduate of Butler High School.

Mrs. Custer was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church of Hubbard and also attended the Calvary Baptist Church.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, attending Bible study and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Theodore A. Custer, whom she married Nov. 15, 1944, died May 4, 1997.

She leaves a daughter, Joanne (Dan) Croyle of Hubbard; grandchildren, Dannie (Tina) Croyle and Kris (Paul) Frank; great-grandchildren Lauren, Ryan Alex, Andrew and Alyssa; and a sister, Patricia Dickey of Sun City, Ariz.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Karen Sue Custer; a son, William J. Custer, and a brother, Jack Dickey.

Custer, who died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, were received Sunday at the <B>Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home,</B> Hubbard, where services were held this morning.Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 132 Church St., Hubbard, Ohio 44425; or to Grace Lutheran Church, 111 Hall Ave., Hubbard, Ohio 44425.
