James Garfield Vetterly II

James Garfield Vetterly II of Venango Road, Venango Township died at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Grove City Medical Center.

Born July 12, 1927, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of James Garfield and Edna Hill Vetterly.

He married Dorothy Louise Wise Vetterly, and she survives.

He worked for Trader Horn in Grove City in the sporting goods department.

He also enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by four daughters, Christine Abbs of Sanger, Texas, Patty and her husband, John Henke of Slippery Rock, Susan Bond of Boyers and Mary Ann Vetterly of Slippery Rock; a son, James Garfield and his wife, Roslilene, Vetterly III of Ross Township; two brothers, Howard Vetterly and John Vetterly; three sisters, Clara Behr of Pittsburgh, Edna Mae Bertram of Pittsburgh and Alice Karlick of Pittsburgh. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

<B>VETTERLY</B>— Friends of James Garfield Vetterly II, who died Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home,</B> 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
