John F. Midcap Jr., 55, of Meadville died Tuesday at his home after a 14-month illness.

Born Oct. 8, 1952, in New Brighton, he was the son of John F. Midcap and the late Lottie Mae Moffett Midcap.

He was a 1970 graduate of Seneca Valley High School. He also was a graduate of the New Castle Business College and was employed at Joy Mining in Franklin since 1976 in various jobs, most recently as a burning machine operator.

Mr. Midcap attended the Cochranton Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.

He was the past president of the Cochranton Little League. He also was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He was married Nov. 4, 1972, to the former Barbara A. Woolstrum, who survives. Also surviving are three children, Evan Midcap of Meadville, Michelle C. Ault and her husband, Lester E. IV, of Cochranton, and Timothy P. Midcap and his wife, Sharyn, of Meadville; his father of Harmony; and his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Jane Moffett of Chicora.

Also surviving are four sisters, Carolyn Marsico and her husband, Peter, of Slippery Rock, Linda Sue Kowalayk and her husband, Frank, of Boyers, Joyce Fritsche and her husband, Scott, of Ellwood City, and Barbara Dunn and her husband, Perry, of York, S.C.; a brother, William C. Midcap and his companion, Carla, of Harmony; and four grandsons, Lee Ault, Allen Midcap, and Samuel and Seth Ault.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother and grandfather, his maternal grandfather and a nephew, Nat Love.

Midcap Jr., who died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the <B>Dickson Family Funeral Home</B>, 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday from the funeral home with the Rev. John McGarvey, of the Cochranton Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, officiating.
