Drugs, Doctors, Rights, Wrongs

nspadish87@aol.com

Just three observations:

1) Dr. Adalja is far better informed in a much broader range of subjects than the combined total of all others on this board;

2) If that's the same Ron as the self-described one who doesn't read past the second sentence, his limitations are patently obvious in his opinion and manner

3) YES TO LOCKDOWN REHAB FOR BUTLER!!! And to legalization, someday - right now the epic proportions of this plague have been crying for hard, heavy, full-on confrontation for too long, but have been met with nothing but the hand-wringing and old-fashioned condemnation a la the conspicuously "war on drugs". A LOCKDWON REHAB IS FAR MORE IN NEED THAN A NEW PRISON - DRUG OFFENSE SENTENCING IS PART OF THE SCOURGE OF SUBSTANCE ABUSE! Jail sentences can do just as much long term damage as the drugs, and instead of correction, usually further deviation comes of it. Mandatory sentencing for possession, use and/or sale of substances that have been scheduled as contraband don't solve the societal problems brought on by drug abuse, and in fact impart new and different problems that cause the same harms as the drugs, such as breaking up families and destroying careers.

(Much more can be said on this issue but it that deserves deep study and responsible discussion, not visceral quips.)
