Larry Thomas Monroe

Larry Thomas Monroe, 59, of Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County, died Wednesday at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Born Nov. 30, 1948, in Fredericksburg, Va., he was the son of James T. and Vera J. Killmon Monroe.

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served during the Vietnam War as an aircraft maintenance specialist in the 1002 Organizational Maintenance Squad, Headquarters Company D. He was honorably discharged with a rank of sergeant and was the recipient of a National Defense Service Medal and an Air Force Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Monroe worked in construction as a carpenter.

He is survived by his father of Spotsylvania, Va.; his mother, Vera J. Breeden of Amelia Courthouse, Va.; a stepbrother, John L. Breeden of Roanoke, Va.; and a stepsister, Vera Lynn Bandy of Tetersville, Va.

He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Larry Monroe.

<B>MONROE — </B>There will be no visitation or funeral for Larry Thomas Monroe, who died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007. As per the request of Mr. Monroe, after cremation, his remains will be returned to Veterans Affairs Medical Center for burial. Arrangements are by <B>Charles B. Buechele Funeral Home</B> in East Brady.
