Rhoda L. Montag
Rhoda L. Montag, 82, of Butler died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 12, 1925, in Mt. Chestnut, she was the daughter of Ralph L. Montag and Virginia Lensner Montag.
She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, The Red Hat Society and Butler Woman's Club of Meridian.
Upon her graduation from Butler High School and Butler Business School, she moved to Arlington, Va., and was employed by the U.S. government. She was among the last group of U.S. officials airlifted during the fall of Saigon at the end of the Vietnam War.
After retiring, she returned to Butler where she lived for 27 years.
She had a calling for helping others. She fostered teenagers while living in the Washington, D.C., area and was a long time volunteer at Veterans Administration Hospital in Butler.
She enjoyed singing in the church choir and socializing. She especially enjoyed traveling and her family. She will be remembered by her warm smile and caring heart.
She is survived by a brother, Kenneth Montag of Meadville; a sister, Suzanne Buttner of Rockledge, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Lynn Montag.
<B>MONTAG</B> — Friends and family of Rhoda L. Montag, who died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, will be received from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave., Butler, with the Rev. Jeff Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Saxonburg Cemetery.
