The Burtners in 1948

Vance and Esther Burtner of Jefferson Township will celebrate 60 years of marriage with a family dinner.

Burtner married the former Esther Hogg on Jan. 2, 1948, at the home of the bride's parents in Slippery Rock.

They have four children, David Burtner of Brookville and Darell, Duane and Darwin Burtner, all of Butler.

They also have 14 grandchildren.Burtner is retired from the dairy and poultry business. He enjoys reading and working on his farm.Mrs. Burtner is a homemaker and retired registered nurse. She belongs to the Butler Memorial Hospital Nurses Alumni Association and is a longtime organist at the Thorn Creek United Methodist Church, where her husband, also a member, teaches Sunday school.
