Sunday — Four parked vehicles were damaged in separate hit-and-run crashes between Friday night and Sunday morning. The vehicles that were hit were parked on Reeder Street, Seventh Avenue, Carbon Street and Hickory Street.
7:15 p.m. Sunday — Robert Niles Wesa, 61, of Sarver was arrested for driving under the influence and other traffic offenses following a short police chase on a number of roads in Winfield Township.Wesa was arraigned on charges of DUI, fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving with a suspended license and a stop sign violation. Following arraignment, the defendant was placed in the Butler County Prison on $1,000 bond.4:12 p.m. Sunday — Kody Alan Sarnese, 20, of Portersville was arrested for allegedly stealing 10 shirts valued at a combined $390 from the JCPenney store, Clearview Mall, in Center Township. Sarnese was arraigned on a charge of retail theft, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $1,000 bond.3:07 a.m. Sunday — Steven Ray Rider Jr., 25, of Karns City was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Route 268 in Parker Township.1:20 a.m. Sunday — Ronald Stutz, 52, of Cabot was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Herman and Moran roads in Summit Township.Sunday — Someone between 2 and 10:30 a.m. stole $71 from the wallet of David Shelley II at his Normal Avenue home in Slippery Rock.11:15 p.m. Saturday — James Keller, 29, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Route 8 and Bonniebrook Road in Center Township.7 p.m. Saturday — Erin Uhl of Karns City reported that someone stole her cell phone while she shopped at the Dick's Sporting Goods store, Clearview Mall, in Center Township.2:49 a.m. Saturday — Misty Grove, no age given, of Petrolia was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Route 268 in Petrolia.10 p.m. Friday — Sherry Kabel, 51, of Fenelton swerved her pickup truck to avoid a deer, and struck a ditch and sideswiped a tree along Chicora-Fenelton Road in Donegal Township.8:35 p.m. Friday — James Majernik, 20, of Gibsonia was cited for careless driving after a three-vehicle wreck on Route 8 in Middlesex Township.Police said the crash occurred when Majernik's car struck the rear of a car driven by Daniel Kotchey, 18, of Allison Park, Allegheny County. The crash forced Kotchey's vehicle into the opposite lane where it collided with a car driven by Andrew Schellhaas, 25, of Pittsburgh.3 p.m. Friday — William Schramm, 56, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of DUI after his pickup struck a tree along Election House Road near Unionville Road in Franklin Township.11:20 a.m. Friday — Acar driven by Sarrah C. Fox, 18, of Slippery Rock struck a ditch and tree along West Park Road in Worth Township.6:16 a.m. Friday — Acar driven by Nicholas Buccelli, 19, of Ellwood City, Lawrence County, and a sport utility vehicle driven by Cynthia Hovis, 37, of Franklin, Venango County, collided on Interstate 79 in Jackson Township. Police said Buccelli was cited for a lane violation.Friday — An unknown burglar between Nov. 3 and Friday broke into a pair of storage structures at the Slippery Rock Campgrounds in Worth Township. Police did not indicate if any property, owned by Connie Bartlett of Florida, was taken.Dec. 25 — Terry Hinchberger told police that someone on Dec. 24 or Christmas Day took a steak, videocassette recorder and an adult tape from his Pinehurst Road home in Center Township.Dec. 21 — An unknown thief between Dec. 19 and 21 stole a 12-foot utility trailer containing more than $6,000 in tools from a construction site on Victory Road in Clinton Township.Police said the 2007 Majestic trailer, owned by JR's Siding of Guin, Ala., is black with a pointed or arrow-shaped front, and the Alabama license plate 49UTB455. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
2 a.m. Friday — Stephen Kurz, 27, of Grove City faces hit-and-run charges following a two-vehicle collision at Route 58 and George Junior Road in Pine Township.Police said the crash occurred when Kurz's minivan struck the side of a tractor-trailer driven by Kenneth Barcusill, 41, of Rayland, Ohio. Kurz, who drove way after the crash, faces charges for accident involving damage to an attended vehicle and numerous other traffic violations, according to police.
