Butler girls win Las Vegas event

Behind Jenna Manuel's 15 points and Casie Cygan's 12 points, the Butler girls basketball team defeated Mojave (Nev.) 69-44 in the championship game of the Lady Wolves Classic in Las Vegas Saturday.

Ten different players scored as the Tornado defeated Mojave for the second time in the tournament. They had won 67-51 in the first round Thursday.

In Saturday's game, Butler stormed out to a 25-5 first-quarter lead and cruised to the victory.

In a 78-37 rout over Desert Pines (Nev.) in the semifinal round, Olivia Bresnahan led the way with 20 points.

Manuel and Bresnahan were named to the all-tournament team.

Butler's offense was in full force in the tournament — totaling 305 points in four games — improving to 13-1 on the season.
