Flecker, Long

Katie and Derek Long

Pittsburgh residents Katie Flecker and Derek Long were united in marriage at 4 p.m. Sept. 29 at Harbison Chapel at Grove City College. The Rev. Saleem Ghubril officiated. A reception followed at the Legacy Banquet Center.

The bride is the daughter of David and Janet Flecker of Prospect. Parents of the bridegroom are Craig and Wendy Long of Altoona.

The maid of honor was Anna Flecker of Prospect. Bridesmaids included Lisa Wilt of Cranberry Township, Brittany Rovan of Johnstown, Kayla Whipkey of Prospect, Christa Williams of Altoona and Julie McFall of Lower Burrell. The flower girl was Faryn Long of Albuquerque, N.M.

Performing the duties of best man was Craig Long of Altoona. Ushers included Tom Long of Albuquerque; Jason Boll, Evan Fairey and Rick Mason, all of Pittsburgh; and Lee Capper of Fairfax, Va. The ring bearer was Nicholas Giunta of Gibsonia.

The bride is a 2001 graduate of Slippery Rock High School and a 2005 graduate of Duquesne University, where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in communication. She works at Second United Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh.

The bridegroom graduated in 2000 from Altoona High School; in 2004 from Grove City College, earning a bachelor of arts degere in English; and in 2007 from Indiana (Pa.) University, earning a master's degree in English. He is currently employed at Valley High School in the New Kensington School District.

Following a honeymoon trip to Hawaii, the couple is making their home in Pittsburgh.
