Crash closes I-70 near W.Va. border
CLAYSVILLE — State police said the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 were expected to be closed until about noon today because of a fiery wreck in Washington County.
A car and tractor-trailer collided about 1 a.m. in Donegal Township, near the West Virginia border. Diesel fuel spilled, and the truck caught fire. Police said the pavement and a nearby bridge suffered major damage from the fire. Three people were airlifted to a Pittsburgh hospital, but no information was available.
Crews were trying to clean up the mess, but authorities did not give a specific time when the highway would reopen.
Eastbound traffic must exit I-70 in Elm Grove, W.Va., and re-enter at the Claysville interchange in Washington County.
