ADAMS TWP — Bill Bair admits his accomplishments on the football field haven't sunk in just yet.

But when they do, he had better be sitting down.

The senior fullback for Mars recently wrapped up his high school career with a season for the ages.

Bair totaled 2,428 rushing yards in 2007, including 2,112 to set a new WPIAL regular season record.

He scored a total of 36 touchdowns and tied the WPIAL mark with 34 in the regular season.

And, for the second straight year, he blew away the competition for the Butler Eagle Scoring Trophy with 204 points, the most points scored to win the trophy since its inception in 1990.

The next closest player to Bair this season was Knoch's Tim McNerney with 114 points.

"I don't think it's sunk in yet," said Bair. "I don't know when it will. Maybe once I get older, I'll look back and realize what I was able to do."

Mars football fans, and high school football fans in general, will forever scratch their heads when looking over Bair's career numbers.

He is now the Planets' all-time leading rusher with 4,702 yards and he scored a staggering 69 touchdowns — and he didn't start a game until his junior season.

But behind the facemask and pads is a teenager with his own likes and dislikes, just like his classmates.

Following is a question-and-answer session that reveals a few things about Bair his fans may not know.

Q: How old were you when you first played organized football and what position did you play?

A: I was 7 years old and I played center and linebacker. I actually enjoyed playing defense more back then.

Q: Who was your favorite football player growing up?

A: Brett Favre. My favorite running back used to be Ricky Williams, but then he went down the drain. My favorite running back of all time is Barry Sanders.

Q: Which is your favorite NFL team?

A: The Steelers.

Q: Of all your teammates on defense, who would you not want to get hit by?

A: (Junior linebacker) Dan King. We're actually cousins by marriage now and we've become close friends. But he's the craziest person on the team and a real tough kid. I wouldn't want to mess with him.

Q: If you had a chance to score a game-winning touchdown by running through a linebacker at the 1-yard line or sprinting 80 yards, which would you take.

A: I'll run over the linebacker. I like hitting people.

Q: What's the hardest you've ever been hit in a football game?

A: Without a doubt, in the (2006) playoffs against Kittanning. A kid named Ryan Shepard hit me. I ended up with a concussion and had to miss the next game.

Q: Other than your coaches and teammates, who do you give the most credit for your success?

A: My mom (Laura). She has always told me to work hard and do my best in everything.

Q: What schools are you looking at to play football in college.

A: Pitt, Louisville, Miami (Ohio), Akron, Bowling Green and Seton Hill, to name a few.

Q: Many of the schools interested in you would like you to play linebacker. Are you willing to give up your career as a running back?

A: If it came down to it, I'd play defense. But I'd really like to stay at running back. I feel that's where I'm at my best.

Q: You live on a farm. What job do you like to do least?

A: Picking corn because that can get pretty heavy.

Q: What's your favorite school lunch and your least favorite?

A: Barbecued ribs is my favorite. I hate the macaroni and cheese and fish sandwich. It's horrible.

Q: What's been your most embarrassing moment through 13 years of school.

A: In seventh grade, I bleached my hair completely blonde. I thought it would look cool and a few of the other kids did it, but it looked totally stupid.
