John W. Heastings
John W. Heastings, formerly of West View, died Thursday.
He had been a staff sergeant with the Army 756th Bombardment Squadron and served as a waist gunner on a B-24, which flew 31 combat missions over Austria, Germany, Hungary, Yugoslavia and Italy during World War II.
Mr. Heastings was a graduate of Robert Morris College and a certified public accountant who specialized in corporate tax matters. He retired in 1981 as a partner from Coopers & Lybrand, now PricewaterhouseCoopers.
He had been a member of The Highland Country Club, where he had served on the board.
He was the beloved husband of the late Mary K. Heastings; the father of Nancy M. Heastings of California, Richard J. (Barbara Jo) Heastings of Washington, Pa., David W. (Sally R. Miller) Heastings of West Deer Township, who works at the Butler Eagle, and A. Douglas (Mary Kay) Heastings of McCandless Township; brother of Charles Heastings of California; grandfather of James R. (AnneMarie Leyden), Sarah E. and Spencer D. Heastings; great-grandfather of Amelia M. Heastings; and uncle of Robert B. Kunkle, Lauren Jaques and Scott Heastings.

Heastings, who died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Simons Funeral Home</B>, 7720 Perry Highway, Ross Township, where services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday.
