The Butler Eagle is seeking stories on holiday traditions. The traditions can be ethnic practices passed from earlier generations or new traditions recently started.

The 49th annual Operation Reindeer program is under way at the Mental Health Association, 140 N. Elm St.Gifts are being gathered for Butler County residents living at Torrance State Hospital and in area personal care homes.Among the gifts sought are new and used, large-sized winter coats and gloves.Gifts will be distributed Dec. 25.For details about the gift program or for reservations for the Dec. 15 bus trip to Torrance for a resident Christmas party, call the mental health association at 724-287-1965.

Actor J. Eddie Peck, who has appeared in soap operas, television shows and movies, will lead two soap opera and television acting seminars Saturday at the Marilyn E. Family Hospice and Palliative Care has placed a Memorial Tree of Love in the Clearview Mall for the holiday season.As a fundraiser, white doves can be purchased in honor or memory of a loved one to decorate the tree.For information or to purchase a dove, call 800-513-2148.

BUTLER TWP — Sing Hosanna! will host its annual holiday celebration dinners and performances Dec. 8 at the South Butler Fire Hall, 98 Old Plank Road.Sessions will be held at noon and 6 p.m., with doors opening 30 minutes early.Each session will include a dinner, a performance by the Sing Hosanna! adult and children singers and a raffling of themed baskets.Reservations are due Monday.
