Ron from Prospect states that laws against self-harm, as exemplified by illicit drug use, are not a "mistaken notion" but simply the law. While I recognize that illicit drug use is against the law, I believe that the drug laws of the US are unconstitutional and wrong because they abrogate people's right to their own life. A person has the right to do to their own body what they wish and the government should have no role in the matter. I believe the political momentum is building for legalization of marijuana and hopefully, as Ralph Williams fears in his letter to the editor, would carry over to other drugs.
