Thanks to Dr. Amesh for pointing out some of the fallacies in Jackie Toth's misguided letter to the editor about marijuana. There are many facts and statistical references she inaccurately posits, but the most glaring is the incorrect notion that marijuana, which is more properly called cannabis, promotes cancer. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, it is believed that the cellular necrosis stimulated by the active components of cannibis cause a weak lung tissue cell to die off and be replaced with new tissue before it mutates into a malignancy.
