Today — Police charged James C. Best, 35, of Butler in connection with a Nov. 6 disturbance at his girlfriend's home on Hazel Avenue. Police said Best is charged with disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and possession of drug paraphernalia.4:15 p.m. Tuesday — Cars driven by John Steighner, 29, of Renfrew and Shannon Short, 31, of Butler collided in a parking lot near Hollywood Drive. Shannon's 4-year-old son, a passenger in her car, suffered minor injuries.12:05 a.m. Tuesday — William Martin Jackson Jr., 21, no address given, faces drug-related and other charges following a traffic stop on West Penn Street.An officer spotted bundles of stamp bags of suspected heroin on the floor next to the seat of Jackson, a passenger in the car that was stopped. The suspect was also wanted on a warrant.Asearch uncovered eight stamp bags in the car and a bag containing a large rock of crack cocaine in Jackson's pants pocket, a police report said.Additionally, police seized $206 from the defendant, who is charged with possession of a controlled substance.

11:30 p.m. Sunday — A Butler County teen was injured when the car she was driving struck a tree along Route 68 in Bradys Bend Township, Armstrong County. Police said Alexi Reynolds, 17, of Evans City suffered minor injuries.

11:17 p.m. Friday — Shane Nolan, 34, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Meridian Road. Police said that before being stopped, Nolan drove through a home's yard.In addition to DUI, Nolan faces charges of reckless driving, trespass by vehicle and a lane violation.11:12 p.m. Friday — Lisa Pfeifer, 48, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of DUI after someone reported that a vehicle had struck a PennDOTtruck parked in the Moraine Commons Apartments parking lot on Independence Lane.An officer found Pfeifer asleep behind the wheel of her pickup that was parked in the apartment parking lot near the PennDOTtruck.Police said they later determined the woman's pickup had hit the truck. Also, they allegedly found a "small quantity" of prescription medication inside her pickup.In addition to DUI, police said Pfeifer faces charges of possession of a controlled substance reckless driving and accidents involving damage to an unattended vehicle.
