Mary C. Rodgers
Mary C. Coyle Rodgers, 78, of Whippowill Road, and of Bonniebrook Road in Butler, died Wed-nesday at Sunnyview Home.
Born Oct. 1, 1929, in Butler, she was a daughter of Daniel M. "Merle" and Katherine McNamee Coyle.
She was a 1948 graduate of Butler High School. She was a registered nurse, earning her R.N. from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1953.
She worked at Butler Memorial Hospital from 1954 to 1973. She then worked at Butler Veteran Affairs Medical Center from 1974 until her retirement in 1984. She was active both locally and at the state level in the Pennsylvania Nurses Association.
Mrs. Rodgers was a member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Carbon Center, where she was a Eucharistic minister and a member of the Christian Mothers.
She was a life member of the C.D. of A. and a member of the Order of Alhambra.
She also enjoyed golfing and was a member of Hiland Golf Course Tuesday Women's golf league until 2005.
She is survived by three sons, Stephen J. Rodgers and his wife, Sue, of Butler, Douglas C. Rodgers and his wife, Janet, of Petrolia, and Gregory R. Rodgers and his wife, LeeAnne, of Butler; five daughters, Mrs. Jack (Nancy) Kradel, Mrs. David (Regina) Thompson, Mrs. Howard (Susan) Reges, Jr., and Linda M. and Anita M. Rodgers, all of Butler; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Regis J. "Rege" Rodgers, whom she married Feb. 20, 1954, preceded her in death July 30, 1997.
She also was preceded in death by three sons, Michael, John and William Rodgers, and a sister, Theresa.
<B>RODGERS</B> — Friends of Mary C. Coyle Rodgers, who died Oct. 10, 2007, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Carbon Center with the Rev. Harry Bielewicz officiating. Burial will follow in St. Wendelin Church Cemetery.Members of the C.D. of A. will meet at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home to recite the Rosary.Memorial donations may be made to St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church School, 211 St. Wendelin Rd., Butler, PA 16001.
