Helen R. Miller
Helen R. Miller, 89, of Butler died Wednesday morning at her home.
Born May 2, 1918, in Butler, she was a daughter of Charles J. and Sarah L. McClafferty Wiest.
She was a homemaker and mother.
Mrs. Miller was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian and the Christian Mothers of St. Fidelis, where she was a past president. She was an active 50-year member of the Catholic Daughters of American Butler Court 443. She also belonged to the Butler Elks Auxiliary, where she held various offices including president; the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, and the Armco golf and bowling leagues.
She enjoyed playing cards, reading, swimming and family vacations.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Lewis (Edith) Marra, Mrs. Roger (Marilyn) McClean, Mrs. David (Janet) Downs and Mrs. Gerald (Susan) Stein, all of Butler; eight grandchildren, Michael (Kelly) and Lewis "Chip" (Barbara) Marra, Daniel (Laura) and Timothy Fontaine, Connie and Jeffrey (Nancy) Downs and Hayley and Nathan Stein; and seven great-grandchildren, Azriella, Marissa, Alona, Ethan, Evan, Alex and Nicholas. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Her husband, George P. Miller, whom she married April 8, 1937, died May 1, 1995. She also was preceded by a sister, Mary Eisenhuth, and four brothers, Francis and Joseph Wiest, the Rev. Lawrence Wiest, O.F.M. Cap. and the Rev. Reginald Wiest O.F.M. Cap.
<B>Miller </B>— Friends of Helen R. Miller, who died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Meridian. The Rev. James Murphy will officiate. Entombment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.The Bereavement Committee of St. Fidelis will hold a parish prayer service at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.The Members of C.D. of A. will recite the rosary at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
