The Butler County Historical Society will host an Apple Dumpling Sale and Holiday Open House from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Lowrie/Shaw House, 123 W. Diamond St.

Dumplings are available baked or frozen. Pre-orders are required by contacting the society office, 724-283-8116. Orders will be taken until 4 p.m. Wednesday. Cost is $2.50.

Tours of the Lowrie/Shaw house will be available during the open house. Admission is $3 for adults, $1 for children, and free for those younger than 5. Historical publications will be available for purchase.

BUTLER TWP — Donations of shoeboxes filled with toys, school supplies, hygiene items, photos and letters are being sought for the Operation Christmas Child Program.The holiday program, organized by Samaritan's Purse, sends gifts to children in need worldwide.As part of a national collection week, gift boxes will be accepted Monday through Nov. 18 at St. John's Reformed Church, 493 Evans City Road.
