The Butler County Historical Society will host an Apple Dumpling Sale and Holiday Open House from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Lowrie/Shaw House, 123 W. Diamond St.

Dumplings are available baked or frozen. Pre-orders are required by contacting the society office, 724-283-8116. Orders will be taken until 4 p.m. Wednesday. Cost is $2.50.

Tours of the Lowrie/Shaw house will be available during the open house. Admission is $3 for adults, $1 for children, and free for those younger than 5. Historical publications will be available for purchase.

BUTLER TWP — Donations of shoeboxes filled with toys, school supplies, hygiene items, photos and letters are being sought for the Operation Christmas Child Program.The holiday program, organized by Samaritan's Purse, sends gifts to children in need worldwide.As part of a national collection week, gift boxes will be accepted Monday through Nov. 18 at St. John's Reformed Church, 493 Evans City Road. Collection times are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday.Last-minute collections will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 19.For information on donating, call 724-285-7574 or call the Rev. CRANBERRY TWP — The Greater Cranberry Barbershop Chorus is available to provide entertainment at private and business Christmas dinners, parties and events in the area.For information, call Bruce Kollister at 724-290-2347.Men who are interested in singing with the chorus during the Christmas season should call Jim Sams at 724-321-2970.

ZELIENOPLE — St. Paul Lutheran Church, 215 N. Main St., will host a cookie walk from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 18 in Stroebel Hall, located behind the church.Participants can purchase a can and fill it with holiday cookies. Refreshments will be sold.Proceeds will benefit the vacation Bible school program.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Aspaghetti dinner and Chinese auction will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Slippery Rock Recreation Center, 320 N. Main St.Proceeds will go to the family of Sean Milliron, a 16-year-old who died in a car accident in October. Funds will be used to offset funeral expenses.Takeouts will be available to those who provide their own containers.A Chinese auction will be held during the event.
