SLIPPERY ROCK — A book fair will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Slippery Rock Elementary School, 470 N. Main St.The event will include a presentation by Kathy Strickland, an English professor at Slippery Rock University, at 6:30 p.m. and presentations by community members throughout the evening.
Couples planning to be married during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend should plan to apply for their marriage licenses soon. Due to the state-required waiting period, the last day to apply for a marriage license in time for a holiday weekend wedding will be Nov. 16. All licenses must be picked up by 4 p.m. Nov. 21.Marriage licenses are available at the Register of Wills and Clerk of Orphan's Court office at the Butler County Government Center. The office will be closed Nov. 22 and 23.For application requirements, call 724-284-5379.
HARRISVILLE — The Harrisville Community Band will present a free fall concert at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Harrisville Fire Hall, East Mercer Street.The band is directed by Becky Sopher of Harrisville. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Afee will be charged for each item appraised.
BUTLER TWP — Meridian United Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., will host a God Bless the USA event at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.Sponsored by the Meridian Vets Club, St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Parish and Meridian Presbyterian Church, the event will feature speaker Arthur Greathead and music by the Meridian United Presbyterian Church Handbell Choir, Sarah Wilson and Hanna Titley, the Lion and Thistle Highlanders and the trio of Vickie Georgic, Rhonda Hough and Karen Pugh.
