Jack Raffensberger Sr., 73, of Lake City, Erie County, formerly of Butler, died Sunday at the Hamot Medical Center, Erie, after a brief illness.

Born in North Girard, now Lake City, March 23, 1934, he was a son of Raymond and Evelyn Daggett Raffensberger.

He graduated from Girard's Rice Avenue Union High School in 1953 and later worked for 30 years as a locomotive engineer for the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad.

Mr. Raffensberger, an avid bowler, was a lifetime member of the American Bowling Congress and belonged to that organization's 700 Club.

He is survived by five daughters, Debra Karwoski and her husband, Tom, of Beaver, Sandra Raffensberger of Girard, Sue Frey and her husband, Paul, of Bradenton, Fla., and Karen Raffensberger and Sheri Gunter and her husband, Scott, all of Girard; two sons, Jack Raffensberger Jr. of Riner, Va., and Jeff Raffensberger and his companion, Denise, of Lake City; 12 grandchildren; and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Hayes Raffensberger, who died in 1981; his second wife, Luz Gutierrez Raffensberger; and a brother, Gerald "Wink" Raffensberger.

<B>RAFFENSBERGER </B>— Friends of Jack Raffensberger Sr., who died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home</B>, 309 Main St. East, Girard. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
