Mildred Johnson, 96, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday.

She was born in Pittsburgh, Feb. 18, 1911, and spent most of her childhood in Erie.

She met her husband, the Rev. Harold Johnson, and they graduated together from Nyack College in New York and started a 40-year ministry in the Christian Missionary and Alliance denomination.

They built and pastored their first church in Hazelhurst Ga., and then pastored churches in Birmingham, Ala., Rome, Ga., and Greenville, S.C. They built a church in Kinston, N.C., and later pastored churches in Westville, N.J., and East Liberty in Pittsburgh. They built another church in Penn Hills and then pastored their last church in Chicora.

Mrs. Johnson, a dedicated preacher's wife, was president of the Women's Missionary Prayer Fellowship for years, was a leader of junior church, taught Sunday school every week and devoted her life to teaching children about Christ. She spent her final years as a prayer warrior and continued ministering to family, friends and strangers up until her final days.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara A. Starke of Cranberry Township; two granddaughters, and six great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Harold G. Johnson, who died Oct. 23, 1998; a great-grandson; a sister, and two brothers.

<B>JOHNSON</B> — Friends of Mildred Johnson, who died Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the <B>Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home & Cremation Services</B>, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Cope officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Marshall Township, Allegheny County.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to American Tract Society, P.O.
