Mary E. Furka
Mary Elizabeth Furka, 85, of Walnut Road, Karns City, died at 2:58 a.m. Monday at the Sugar Creek Rest, Worthington, after a brief illness.
Born in Bradys Bend, Armstrong County, May 3, 1922, she was a daughter of Mirko and Mary Bompage Sirich.
She was a member of the Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church of Chicora and the Holy Name Rosary Society.
Mrs. Furka was a homemaker and graduated of the Fairview Township-Karns City High School in 1940.
Surviving are her husband, John M. Furka, whom she married June 14, 1947, in Bradys Bend; a daughter, Patricia A. Coleman of Banning, Calif., a son, George J. Furka of Karns City; two grandchildren, Keary James Furka and his wife, Jamie, of Auburn, Maine, and Regina Marie Furka of Mount Joy; and a great-grandchild, Natalie Grave Furka of Auburn, Maine.
Also surviving are four brothers, Gregory Sirich and his wife, Pat, of Harrison, Mich., William "Bill" Sirich of Petrolia, Robert "Bob" Sirich of Butler and Steve Sirich and his wife, Lois, of Karns City; a sister, Barbara Sirich of Chicora; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Joseph Sirich, and three sisters, Josephine Cupec, Bertha Sirich and Kathryn Blasic.
<B>FURKA </B>— Friends of Mary Elizabeth Furka, who died Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home</B>, 102 Argyle St., Petrolia. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church, Chicora, with Rev. David DeWitt officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Mary Cemetery, Bradys Bend.
