Nowakowski 60th anniversary
Mark and Irene Nowakowski of Butler celebrated 60 years of marriage recently with family dinners at the Rose Haven Bed and Breakfast and the Hardwood Café, hosted by their children and their spouses.
The former Irene Tishey married Nowakowski Sept. 20, 1947, at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church.
They have five children, Kathy Geibel, Dean Nowakowski and Carol Schiebel, all of Butler; Mark Nowakowski of Long Grove, Ill.; and Sheri Romano of Collegeville.
They also have nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Nowakowski is retired from Armco, where he worked as a carpenter. Aveteran of World War II, he served as a medic, scout and infantry member in the European Theater. He also served in the Battle of the Bulge. He is a member of the VFW, the Roman Catholic Men's Club and the American Legion.
Mrs. Nowakowski is a homemaker. She belongs to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a card club.
The Nowakowskis are members of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church. They enjoy traveling and camping.
