SHARON — Four Grove City and two Slippery Rock high school runners advanced to the PIAA Class AA Cross Country Championships, which will be held next weekend in Hershey, after strong performances Saturday in the District 10 meet.

Grove City freshman Jacob Kildoo placed eighth with a time of 17 minutes, 11 seconds and Tim Bollinger finished 14th with a time of 17:21 to advance.

As a team, the Eagles placed fifth.

The Slippery Rock boys also advanced two runners to the state meet.

Nate King came in 19th place and Owen Bowser finished 24th for the Rockets, who finished in sixth place as a team.

On the girls side, Megan DeGraaf posted a top-10 finish for the Grove City girls, while Becky Consbruck advanced by finishing 20th.

The Grove City girls fell just short of making it to Hershey as a team, coming in at 191 points and in fourth place. The top three teams qualified for the PIAA Championships.
