Hear hear, Dr. Adalja
This man is so preeminent as to have no need of my adulations. But until the issues he champions arrive at a level head, I hope he persists in his admirable mission to improve the quality of life for society's most vulnerable.
In contrast, to Lisa Weisentein - was that gibberish supposed to be someting eloquent and profound? When you can compose a grammatically sound sentence, I'll consider that maybe, just maybe you're saying something worth listening to. Until then, let's hope those teachers get back to work soon - be it grammar or sexuality, some kids obviously can't rely on their parents for their most basic educational needs.
Sadly, it takes only a cursory glance around poor, increasingly troubled Butler to see exactly what kind of "vision" and "action plan" the stalwart neo-cons who systematically ruined it have had these last several generations. Evolution offers one option: change, or die. We can see what path the mainstream Butlerites prefer. To these simple folk, it may seem more comfortable to stick their heads in the sand than to explore the possibility that their minds need enlargement. But they never seem to learn that this leaves their backsides exposed, and sooner or later, reality will deliver its swift kick.
We can learn by suffering, or by insight. The choice is ours (...unless you're a tween in Butler).
Dr. A, you're too good for these parts. Do what the enightened before you have done, and steal away while this band of retreads finishes eating themselves alive. Not much of what used to be desirable about Butler exists anymore, and with the mindset evidenced in these letters, it's not hard to see why. Although I don't have many peers online, I thank goodness I'm a senior in the sunset of my life. I don't want to be around when this unfortunate place dissolves further into complete anarchy.
