Sylvia M. Peiffer, 83, of Saxonburg died Saturday at the Saxony Health Center.

Born March 11, 1924, in Arcadia, she was the daughter of Alfred Guy and Mary Spencer Painter.

She retired in 1990 from the laundry department at Butler Memorial Hospital after 18 years.

Surviving are seven sons, Charles and Richard Peiffer, both of Saxonburg, Kenneth Peiffer of Kennewick, Wash., Frederick Peiffer of Saxonburg, Thomas Peiffer of Sarver, Dennis Peiffer of Butler and Daniel Peiffer of Cabot; a daughter, Mrs. James (Barbara) Direnzo of Butler; 16 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Charles A. Peiffer Sr., died Oct. 8, 1998. She also was preceded in death by son, Calvin Earl Peiffer; a daughter, Shirley Mae Peiffer, and a granddaughter, Sabrina Lynn Peiffer.
