Slippery Rock High junior Jenna Rinker shot an 8-over par 80 at Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York in the first round of the PIAA Championships Monday.

Rinker, who is the first golfer in school history to advance to the state tournament, is 11 strokes off the pace set by Rachel Rohanna of Waynesburg. She is tied for 15th place in the 24-golfer field.

Rohanna fired a 33 on the back nine to finish with a 3-under 69. She leads by a stroke over freshman Nadia Luttner of Fox Chapel.

Rinker shot a 40 on both the front and back of the challenging Heritage Hills course.

On the boys side, Grove City senior Derek Forese had a difficult day, shooting a 11-over 82. He is tied for 42nd place.

Greg Orlando of Erie Cathedral Prep leads by three strokes after firing a 67.

The final round for both the boys and girls tournaments will be held today.
