John K. Pfaff, 86, of Chicora died at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center after an illness.

Born in Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County, Aug. 22, 1921, he was the son of John J. and Erma M. Double Pfaff.

He served with the Army's 343rd Squadron, 325th Service Group in England. He served from Dec. 29, 1941, to Dec. 18, 1945, and achieved the rank of sergeant.

Mr. Pfaff was a 1939 graduate of the Kittanning High School, and he retired in 1982 after 33 years at the Linde Plant Division of Union Carbide when the plant closed.

He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Bradys Bend, and the Altar-Rosary Society of the church. He was a member of the Chicora V.F.W. and American Legion posts and was a member of the Emlenton Council of the Knights of Columbus.

Surviving are his wife, Agnes P. Knoll Pfaff, whom he married April 11, 1951; two sons, Neil Pfaff of Chicora and Regis Pfaff of Thailand; five daughters, Mary Hafey of Henderson, Nev., Eileen Stutz of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mrs. Mark (Louise) Schafer of Bethel Park, Mrs. Timothy (Jeanne) Miles of East Brady and Mrs. Bruce (Annette) Bachman of Irwin; 11 grandchildren, and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by a son and a sister.

<B>PFAFF </B>— Friends of John K. Pfaff, who died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock St. Chicora. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Bradys Bend, with the Rev. Lester Knoll, his brother-in-law, concelebrated by the Rev. Joseph Bonafed, church pastor. Burial will be at the St. Patrick Cemetery, Sugarcreek Township.
