Lois Humphrey Taylor, 77, a lifelong resident of the Grove City and Harrisville area, died at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday at Orchard Manor, Pine Township, Mercer County, after a one-year illness.

Born in Harrisville, Jan. 29, 1930, she was the daughter of D. Floyd and Laura Spence Humphrey.

She was a homemaker. A 1949 alumna of Harrisville High School and a graduate of the Mason Felix Beauty School in Butler, she was retired hairdresser and had owned a shop in Harrisville for more than 20 years.

Mrs. Taylor was a member of the East Main Presbyterian Church in Grove City.

She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, traveling and spending time with her family.

Surviving are three children, Carol A. Glenn and her husband, Douglas, of Harrisville, Joseph C. Taylor and his wife, Lynn, and Daniel L. Taylor and his wife, Robin, all of Grove City; a sister, Linda Palmer and her husband, Donald, of Parker; and a brother, Robert Humphry and his wife, Carol, of St. Cloud, Fla. She also is survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Jerry C. Taylor, whom she married Sept. 19, 1949, died Dec. 21, 1999. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Bonetti, and three brothers, Donald, Edward and Ralph Humphrey.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
