Valetta Pearl 'Sis' Claypoole
Valetta Pearl "Sis" Claypoole, 78, of Chicora, formerly of Perry Township, Armstrong County, died at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Butler County, July 4, 1929, she was a daughter of Walter and Ella Neidig Robb.
She was a member of the Queenstown United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Claypoole had attended the Winfield School and was employed for 18 years at the Moonlight Mushroom Co. until she was injured at work.
She enjoyed her family and her dog, Sadie.
Surviving are six sons and five daughters-in-law, Richard J. Claypoole and Helen of Parker, Ronald W. Claypoole and Debra of Karns City, Van Claypoole and Nancy of Hilliards, Kenneth E. Claypoole and Ruth of Chicora, James E. Claypoole and Beverly of Petrolia and Patrick W. Claypoole of Hilliards; five daughters and their spouses, Judy Ingram and Dennis of Las Vegas, Nev., Peggy Boyle and Raymond and Jean Burk and Jack, all of Chicora, Alma Plunkard and David of Parker and Shirley Snyder and Harry of Petrolia; a foster son, Perry Griffie and his wife, Linda, of East Brady; a foster daughter, Eleanor Confer of Butler; and a brother, Richard Robb and his wife, Marion, of Florida.
Also surviving are 43 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Her husband, James Edward Claypoole, whom she married Sept. 29, 1947, in Butler County, died May 14, 1992. She also was preceded in death by a son, Herbert Paul Claypoole, who died in 1951; two sisters, Jane Foster and Dorothy Williams; a brother, Walter Robb; and two grandchildren.
<B>CLAYPOOLE </B>— Friends of Valetta Pearl "Sis" Claypoole, who died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Richard D. Hillis funeral home</B>, 102 Argyle St., Petrolia. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Sherry Cook, pastor of the Mckee Chapel United Methodist Church, officiating.
