Joseph McChesney Jr.
Joseph William McChesney Jr., 18, of 154 Templeton Lane, Mercer Township, died at 6:04 p.m. Sept. 10 at Allegheny General Hospital Pittsburgh.
Born in Greenville, MercerCounty, Feb. 25, 1989, he was the son of Joseph William McChesney Sr. and Cheryl Ann Templeton McChesney.
He was a Protestant and worked at Gear Racewear in Grove City.
He was a 2007 Slippery Rock High School graduate. During his high school years, he was involved in various activities including the high school musicals, stage crew, choir and the Academic Decathlon, where he was a state medalist. He also was involved with the environmental club, T.A.S.O.W., Totally Awesome Spirit of Wild Life, and was active in developing and bringing into fruition a comprehensive plan to better recycle papers through the school system.
Surviving are his mother of Slippery Rock; his father of Harrisville; two sisters, Amy J. McChesney of Slippery Rock and Alicia D. McChesney of Sandy Lake; his maternal grandmother, Shirley J. Templeton of Slippery Rock; and his paternal grandparents, James E. and Shirley R. McChesney of Harrisville Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert Templeton.
<B>MCCHESNEY </B>— Friends of Joseph William McChesney Jr., who died Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, will be received from 3 to 9 p.m. today and from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Center Presbyterian Church, Slippery Rock, with the Rev. David McCabe, church pastor and the Rev. Dana Opp, pastor of the Portersville Presbyterian Church, officiating. Private burial will be later.
