The Butler County Housing Authority will host an open house from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday at its Cliffside Apartments, 325 S. McKean St.
The apartments recently underwent more than $2 million in renovations that include:
• Air conditioning
• Elimination of efficiency apartments
• A new community room
• Roof replacements.

KARNS CITY— Parents and juniors and seniors are invited to a seminar on financial aid for post-secondary education.The Karns City High School guidance department will host "Financing An Education" at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 24 in the high school auditorium.Amy Sloan, a representative from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency, will speak about the process and availability of financial aid.
BUTLER TWP — After nearly 40 years in Butler, the 300th Sustainment Brigade, a part of the Army Reserve, is moving to Grand Prairie, Texas.The unit will be replaced at the Butler U.S. Army Reserve Center, 360 Evans City Road, by the 301st Regional Support Group from New York, according to an Army news release.The 300th will have a transition and transformation ceremony Sunday, but it will not be open to the public.Following that event, the 301st, commanded by Col. Neil J. Skow, will have its own transition and transformation ceremony. The 301st is transferring from Fort Trotten, N.Y.The 300th Transportation Group was created June 26, 1945. It came here on Jan. 31, 1968.The 300th replaced the 436th Transportation Battalion that year.
